start building your own fine jewellery collection

Congratulations! So, you’re ready to start building your own fine jewellery collection and thinking of what to include first. Let’s discuss! My top tip for you would be to have both simplicity and variety and always go for something you love. Trends come and go but the pieces you love you will wear forever.

Something that I personally always look for is durability, look for pieces that will last you a long time, ones that you will get lots of wear out of. Or, as some may say, the classics that will keep you chic – even if you’re someone who already had a full blown collection.

Start off by making sure you have at least one of each of these in your collection:

Earrings

If there is one thing worth investing in, it’s a good pair of earrings! Whether you prefer studs or chandelier pieces you will have no problem finding earrings to match your style. However, for everyday wear, I would recommend sticking with simple, versatile pieces and not going for a piece too dramatic. These Astor Diamond Earrings are a great simple yet elegant option that will never go out of style!

But for the night, it’s time to go full glam: The Bolder The Better! Though they might only seem like a small addition to your wardrobe, a glamorous pair of earrings can go a thousand miles. This Chain of Love pair is perfect, and will be sure to be a conversation piece.

Hoops

Stuck in the middle between studs and chandeliers? Hoops and a low bun could make even a pajama set look classy! So versatile and very essential, I always opt for a good pair of hoops because they can be paired with anything and make any look just that much more special!

When it comes to hoops, the sizes are endless, don’t be afraid to be dramatic and get a pair to make a statement! Whether you like big, bold hoops or lobe hugging dainty ones – you can definitely find the pair for you!

I personally love a smaller, more timeless yet fun pair like these Coil hoops which manage to find the perfect balance and create a subtle statement.

Chains

No, not the chains that famous rappers like Snoop Dogg wear, but the kind that pair perfectly with a pendant of your choice. A variety of chains are a must have! Keep some thick ones and some thin ones. Simple and versatile, they are also perfect for layering over other necklaces for that seamlessly elegant look.

For days when you feel like making more of a statement a thick chain is a great way to change up the look of any pendant. For everyday wear, I enjoy stacking necklaces and pendants with dainty chains. But a fun alternative I love wearing to make a statement is this Chain of Love necklace

Pendants and Necklaces

Pendants and necklaces are so gorgeous and I personally love them because they are the perfect way to incorporate meaningful pieces into your collection. Each pendant from KN has its own special meaning!

Some are definitely statement pieces and can alone be the star of your look but other pieces are much more dainty and are great for layering or even just wearing alone; both are equally essential. This Iridescent Dew Drop pendant is definitely the former, a perfectly tasteful statement piece.

If you are looking for a more simple piece, this Single Letter Necklace is absolutely stunning, and you can choose to get one with your partner’s, child’s or even own initial, it is completely up to you!

Rings to mix and match.

Rings, Rings, Rings! There are so many of them and they are perfect for mixing and matching!

When stacking, you know your style, if classic colour coordinated bands (ie. gold and gold) are for you, wear them proud! But if you prefer mixing it up and getting creative, match different golds for a great way to have some fun with your rings!

Another thing to look for is band thickness, stacking thick bands can easily lead to you crossing the fine line from statement to tacky, so always opt for a variety of band thickness; thin bands with thick bands!

Try to also look for variety, there are three common types of gold: rose gold, white gold and yellow gold. But that does not limit your options, try finding pieces bedazzled with gemstones, pearls and diamonds of your choice. A great way to incorporate meaning into your ring collection is to own a ring with some special meaning. Check out this collection which features beautiful birthstone rings (you can even get a tennis bracelet to match)!

I would recommend having at least one simple, high – quality ring in your collection! I prefer to  invest in good quality solid gold rings because they save you the discomfort and itching of lower quality metal rings. The Hexa ring is a good place to start, for a unique yet toned down piece.

Pearl necklace and studs.

Channel your inner Audrey Hepburn with the classiest of pieces – PEARLS! Though you might not be wearing them for a delicious breakfast at Tiffany’s, pearls are a must.

These simple studs are subtle but one of the best ways to look put together and on top of things. To top it off, I love a good pearl on pearl look, pearl studs pair perfectly with simple necklaces like this Floating Pearl necklace. And remember, dress for the occasion, for a more blingy, nighttime look use your pearls to make a glamorous statement!

My last tip for you is to keep an open mind. Don’t decide you dislike certain pieces right away. Keep your mind open and be willing to try new pieces, even ones that you normally would never go for, who knows – that just may be how you find your next signature piece. That being said, try your best to find your own style, no matter how in – fashion a piece is, if it’s not for you, it’s just not for you – and that’s okay.

Love,

Kajal
